Barnes and Noble to Sponsor Fundraiser for The Children's Museum of Wilmingto

Wilmington, NC - The Children's Museum of Wilmington (CMoW) happily announces its collaboration with the Mayfaire Town Center Barnes and Noble (B&N) for a fundraiser on April 1st, 2017. A portion of in-store sales will be donated to the Museum! Customers at B&N can help benefit the museum by mentioning their support of CMoW or provide a copy of the attached voucher at checkout. In addition, B&N will share a portion of proceeds from online purchases made with the same voucher through April 6th.

With the proceeds earned, CMoW will make beautification improvements to its courtyard space for summer programs. Any B&N purchases that are made on April 1st (and online through April 6th) will help benefit the museum, members, and guests.

In addition to the fundraiser, eight local children's authors will visit B&N from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m as part of its Children's Story Fest. These authors will read stories and host activities for children and their families.

"The Children's Museum of Wilmington is delighted to partner with Barnes & Noble as part of their Children's Story Fest on April 1st," said Jim Karl, the Executive Director of the Children's Museum. "With a common goal of nurturing a love of reading in children of all ages, we are hopeful that folks will come out to enjoy the author's readings and support the Museum."

Marilyn Shackleford, community relations manager at our local B&N store, described the event in more detail.

"The April 1st event will feature local authors and illustrators as well as students from the Cape Fear Community College Interpreter Education Program who will be providing translation in American Sign Language," she said. "This is a drop-in event, so children of all ages will have fun hearing as many as twelve stories and we'll have an activity table where the illustrators will teach them to draw characters from the books."
