CMoW Welcomes Sellout Crowd for 3rd Annual Polar Express Day!

The Children's Museum of Wilmington partners with event sponsors, Waffle House and Lowes Foods, to bring literature to life with Polar Express themed event.

Wilmington, NC - The Children's Museum of Wilmington plans to welcome a sellout crowd to celebrate its 3rd Annual Polar Express Day. Saturday, December 9th and 16th from 9:00am to 12:00pm, wear your favorite pajamas and be whisked away to the North Pole. Ride the train around the block or sip on hot cocoa while you create holiday crafts. Children will even have the chance to tell Santa himself their holiday wish.

“It’s by far one of my favorite special events [at the Museum],” said Aleigh Brilhante, chair of the Polar Express Day event. “Each year we try to add something new to the event and, for year three, we are having our biggest, most activity packed Polar Express Day yet!”

In addition to the Polar Express Shriner train that comes every year, Santa is taking some time off to visit the Museum as well. They will have their famous hot chocolate to sip on while kids work on holiday ornaments, and Mr. Scooter will be joining them to tell a winter wonderland story! To add even more holiday cheer, they are lucky enough to have the New Hanover High School chorus group caroling throughout the entire event.

To encourage literary excitement, one of the Museum’s core values, they will also be offering a traditional book reading of “The Polar Express”. “We want every child to walk away exhilarated from seeing one of their favorite literary pieces come to life before their eyes,” Aleigh said.

There will be no day of tickets sales for this event. General admission tickets were pre-sold and sold out in just minutes. Anytime and ACM Members are welcome to show up on the day of the event.
