Children’s Museum Partners with U.S. Navy to Host Special Events

DOWNTOWN WILMINGTON, N.C. – During Wilmington’s Navy Week, April 1-7, The Children’s Museum of Wilmington (CMoW) will partner with the Navy to host 3 FREE exciting events, which the public is invited to attend.

On Tuesday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sailors from the Coastal Riverine Squadron will be on hand to answer questions about their job and display their equipment. The Riverines operate in coastal waters protecting Navy assets both afloat and on the ground.

On Wednesday, April 3 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m., Sailors from the USS Constitution will have a presentation available about the history of the oldest commissioned warship afloat, as well as knot-tying displays and sample wood from the ship.

On Friday, April 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Navy Band Northeast’s Brass Quintet will perform a FREE concert at the Museum.

Navy Weeks are coordinated by the Navy Office of Community Outreach, and designed to give Americans an opportunity to learn about the U.S. Navy, its people and its importance to national security. Navy Weeks play a vital role in connecting the American public with a large array of Sailors, assets and equipment.

Museum members, guests, and school groups are encouraged to attend the FREE events. If you choose to stay and enjoy the Museum that day, normal admission fees apply.
